Compact, nicely built easy to handle, and good performer, this lens was a rebranded Mamiya 14mm fisheye for the QBM mount, it was intended as a cheaper alternative for the 16mm Zeiss F-Distagon f/2.8, and it was also rebranded with a different finish and look for the Voigtlander VSL cameras with QBM mount. It has been part of the foolish Rollei policy having a confusion of brands, names, etc.
It’s sporting a full metal construction with aperture values going from 3.5 to 16.
Filters are in a filter turret, the control is nicely built within the hood.
As the original Mamiya version filters are Skylight (SL) – LB-A – Y48 (Y2) – R60 (R)
A metal variant of the lens appeared on eBay years ago, but I’m not sure it’s a real factory variant or some user’s custom rework. If you have any info please contact me.
in VR panoramic photography usage:
Equidistant projection, effectively a 14.17 mm focal length. It gives a 23500 x 11750 panorama on A7R4, can do 6 around, 5 or even 4 with a small overlap, allows a -20 (extreme -30) pitch. at first, seems incredibly sharp.
